Asteroid Deflector
On stardate 4842.6, the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE™ encountered a large asteroid on a collision course for a planet dubbed "Miramanee's planet." After the starship proved unable to deflect the asteroid, an accidental discovery by Captain James T. Kirk™ provided the solution. A large obelisk built by an ancient race known as "The Preservers" was actually intended expressiy for asteroid deflection. Instructions for its use were inscribed along it in a tonal alphabet. |

Portable Cerebral Stabilizer
On stardate 5431.4, Kara, leader of the Eymorg of Sigma Draconis VI removed the brain of Commander Spock™ from his body. Tracking her, the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE™ finds that Spock's brain has been implanted into a device where it resided as the "controller" and was used to run the planet's master computer system. Doctor McCoy™ created a mechanism to control Spock's body and later risked using an alien device called "the teacher" in order to perform the delicate surgery needed to restore Spock. |
| 70 |
 |
Atavachron
The Atavachron was a device used by the inhabitants of the planet Sarpeidon to travel back into their past. When discovered by the crew of the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE™ on stardate 5943.7, it was being used to escape the impending destruction of the system due to its sun going nova. The device consisted of a vast library of the planet's past, and a portal through which one traveled.

 |
EVA Suits
Environmental suits are required for all personnel leaving the confines of a life-support environment, such as that found on a starship. These suits are typically bulky, due to the amount of support equipment they contain. Several types may be fitted with a thruster pack to enable short-range travel, such as when servicing the exterior of a starship. |
72 |
 |
Perscan Device
The perscan device was in wide use within Starfleet on stardate 7412.6. The device was attached to the front of the standard duty uniform and displayed the vital signs of the wearer for quick medical access. Later, these devices were not necessary as internal ship's sensors became more sophisticated. In the 24th century some of these functions have been added to the personal communicators worn by all Starfleet personnel. |
| 73 |
 |
Photon Torpedo
The Photon Torpedo is a missile-type weapon employed by the Federation. The torpedo is self-propelled and contains small amounts of matter and antimatter held apart in a magnetic bottle. When desired, the matter and anti-matter particles are allowed to contact each other, resulting in the annihilation of both, and a release of incredible energy. Photon torpedo casings may also be used to transport other materials at high warp speed. |
74 |
 |
Genesiss Torpedo
The Genesis Torpedo was a device used to initiate the final phase of testing for the Genesis effect. The torpedo was launched at a planetary body, where it produced the Genesis wave, reassembling subatomic particles into a predetermined matrix. The torpedo was prematurely launched by Khan Noonien Singh who attempted to use it for revenge against Admiral James T. Kirk.™ Ultimately the project failed, due to the use of protomatter in its design matrix. |
75 |
 |
Antigravity Boots
Antigravity boots allow the wearer to nullify the gravitational effects of either natural or artificial gravity. They are frequently used by personnel for safe access to precarious areas without the danger of falling. Captain Spock™ wore a pair of these while monitoring the progress of a free-climbing Captain Kirk™ in Yosemite National Park, Earth on stardate 8454, and for his subsequent retrieval when Kirk lost his footing. |
| 76 |
 |
VISOR
The Visual Instrument and Sensary Organ Replacement is a prosthetic device which is capable of sending sensory information directly to the visual cortex, in the absence of optic nerves. The VISOR is a metal band, worn across the eyes, like a pair of glasses, cantaining many small sensors. The VISOR permits sight beyond the visual light range and across the electromagnetic spectrum including infrared and radio waves. |
77 |
 |
Hypospray
The hypospray is a medical instrument used to administer medication into a patient intravenously. It uses a high-pressure, compressed air system that propels the medication through a patient's clothing and skin directly into the bloodstream, eliminating the need for the old-fashioned hypodermic needle. These instruments may be programmed to deliver specific amounts upon demand, in a very precise manner. |
78 |
 |
Dilithium Crystals
Dilithium crystals are a key component in starship warp drive systems. The crystals are put directly into the path of the matter/anti-matter injection stream in order to regulate the reaction and feed energy to the warp nacelles. Crystals may be re-used by injecting them with high energy photons to re-energize the crystalline matrix. |
| 79 |
 |
Nanites
Nanites are nanoscopic robots designed to perform medical tasks within the bloodstream of living patients. This type of operation might include the removal of matter from blood vessels. On stardate 43125.8, nanites infested the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE™ after an experiment conducted by Wesley Crusher™ went awry. These interactive nanite experiments resulted in a strain that was self-reproducing and sentient. The nanites were ultimately granted the right to colonize the planet Kavis Alpha IV. |
80 |
 |
UV Light Source
A small hand-held cylinder used to produce a high concentration of ultraviolet light, the UV light source is capable of projecting a beam a considerable distance, and has been used frequently by Lieutenant Commander Data™ of the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE™ for various search procedures. Most notably, the device was altered to counteract the effects of the mind-control device used by the Ktarians in an attempted takeover. |
81 |
 |
Tractor Beam
The tractor beam is a focused linear beam of graviton energy. Tractor beams are equipped on all Federation starships, and allow for the towing of another craft or moving a distant object without direct ship contact. Tractor beams are also used for extremely precise navigation, such as that required for use within a spacedock, or when smaller vessels enter a hangar. |
| 82 |
 |
Romulan Disruptor
The Romulans carry a hand-held, directed-energy weapon, very similar in effect to the Klingon™ disruptor. The Romulan weapon has a more streamlined appearance than its Klingon counterpart, however. The disruption effect of this weapon is easily identified due to the high concentration of antiproton residue it leaves. This weapon is shaped like a traditional pistol, with a guard in front of the grip. |
83 |
 |
Deflector Shields
All Federation vessels are equipped with Deflector Shields. The shields are composed of energy which is deployed around the hull of a vessel, even at warp speeds. This energy is used to protect against naturally occurring space debris or enemy attack. Shields will nullify most energy weapons but also prevent the operation of transporters through them. |
84 |
 |
Transporter
Transporters are matter-energy converters used to transport objects and personnel from one location to another, most commonly used for ship-to-ship and ship-to-surface transport. The object of transport is transferred into energy which is then beamed to another location, where the molecules of energy are reassembled into their original form. Transporter beams cannot, typically, transfer objects through the deflectar shields of a spaceship. |
| 85 |
 |
Particle Fountain
The particle fountain was an experimental mining technique developed on the planet Tyrus VIIA by Doctor Farallon. The device forms a powerful forcefield between the planet's surface and a geo-synchronous station. During the test, the fountain malfunctioned, but there is still great hope for the theoretical application. |
86 |
 |
Pattern Enhancer
A pattern enhancer is employed when hazardous conditions prohibit the safe functioning of the transporter to convey cargo or personnel. The enhancer acts as a relay to assist in the definition of a transporter signal. Typically used in a set of three, surrounding the intended subject of transport, these enhancers significantly increase chances of a positive signal lock. |
87 |
 |
Holodeck
In the 24th century, holodecks fill many educational and recreational needs. Holodecks are designed to create a simulated environment that is either a duplication of an existing location or a theoretical location, depending on the program loaded. Any atmosphere or environment may be simulated through the use of transporter and replicator technology. Excellent for training, though more frequently used in role-playing type scenarios for recreation. |
| 88 |
 |
Phasing Cloak
An experimental phasing/cloaking device was developed by the Federation using the Oberth-class U.S.S. PEGASUS™ as a prototype.
The device caused the affected ship to slip out of phase with normal space, allowing it not only to disappear, but also to pass through other solid obiects. When the device failed, the U.S.S. PEGASUS drifted into the Devolin system, where it "de-phased" into the body of a large asteroid. |
89 |
 |
PADD
The PADD, or Personal Access Display Device, functions as a portable interface to a main computer system. The display on a PADD is user-configurable, and allows for access to systems identical to that of a stationary console, with limitations due to size. The PADD is not usually issued for away team missions, since a standard tricorder, while bulkier, allows for greater range of operation. |

M-113 Creature
While studying the ruins of a long-dead civilization on planet M-113, the last of its native inhabitants was discovered by Professor Robert Crater and his wife, Nancy. The creature killed Nancy Crater, but asing a powerful hypnotic ability, was able to appear as her to Professor Crater. The creature used this ability on U.S.S. ENTERPRISE™ crew members on stardate 1513.1 when it attempted to prey upon them for the sodium chloride it needed to survive. |
91 |
 |
Balok
Balok was the commander of the First Federation flagship, FESARIUS, encountered by the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE™ on stardate 1512.2. Balok used a false image to represent himself to the starship crew, feeling that his true, diminutive stature would not be powerful or intimidating enough. Balok enacted an elaborate ruse in order to discern the true intentions of the starfleet vessel. Finding Captain Kirk™ and his crew to be honorable, he agreed to an exchange of information. |
92 |
 |
Tellarite
Tellarites are strong, sturdy humanoids with thick reddish hair and pig-like snouts. They have deep-set eyes, giving them an appearance similar to an Earth pig. They tend towards violent tempers, erupting with little provacation. A delegation of Tellarites, including Ambassador Gav, boarded the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE™ on its way to the Babel Conference on stardate 3842.3. |
| 93 |
 |
Andorian
Andorians are a generally violent race distinguished by blue skin, a shock of white hair and two antennae protruding from the top of their head. A delegation of Andorians boarded the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE™ NCC-1701, to participate in the Babel Conference. Enroute one of their party was discovered to be an Orion spy, planted onboard to sabotage the talks. Andorians have been long-standing members of the Federation.
|

 |
Lieutenant Arex
Lieutenant Arex replaced Ensign Chekov™ at the helm of the starship U.S.S. ENTERPRISE.™ A Tripedal race, notable for having three arms, three legs and reddish colored skin, Arex also filled in for Mr. Spock™ at the library computer console, when necessary. It is probable that Mr. Arex's planet was class-M, but of a gravity lower than 1.06. |
95 |
 |
Borg
The Borg™ are a race of cybernetically-eahanced Humanoids who seek to assimilate all other life forms. The Borg operate as a collaborative unit, with each Borg filling a specific purpose towards a common goal and no individuality. The Borg use surgical implants to alter other races and integrate them into the collective. The cybernetic
*enhancements" on the Borg take place shortly after birth. |
| 96 |
 |
Bolian
Bolians are Humanoids from the planet Bolarus IX. Their predominant physical characteristics are light blue skin and a narrow, raised ridge that runs along the center of their heads. Bolians typically have superior strength, possibly from a home world of higher gravity. A haircutter on the Galaxy-class U.S.S. ENTERPRISE™ – Mister Mat – is a Bolian, and noted as one of the finest barbers available. |
97 |
 |
Bajoran
Bajorans are the Humanoid natives of the planet Bajor. They are recognized by the distinctive ridge along the bridge of their noses, as well as a decorative earring worn on the right ear. Most Bajorans were forced to resettle on other planets when the Cardassians™ invaded their world. The Bajorans are a highly spiritual people seeking the wisdem of the prophets through the Kai, a religious leader. |
98 |
 |
Cardassian
Natives of the planet Cardassia, this is a people that have thrived only after succumbing to a military rule. A war with the Federation finally ended on stardate 46360 when a peace treaty was established. The Cardassians ended their occupation of the planet Bajor™ leaving behind the space station Terek Nor, subsequently inhabited by Federation and renamed DEEP SPACE NINE.™

Phaser
Mid-23rd Century
Up to the middle of the 23rd century, starfleet issued hand-held lasers to their personnel for use on landing parties. These were replaced with hand phasers, which came in three basic types: Type I, III and the Phaser rifle. The type II phaser was comprised of a type I phaser, as well as an extended power pack and pistol-type grip for accuracy. As expected, the Phaser rifle had even greater power, range and potential accuracy. |
E2 |
 |
Phaser
Late 23rd Century
Later in the 23rd century, the refinements in the hand-held phaser included improved comfort, range and intensity. The type III phaser still provides a convenient housing for the more easily concealed, type I phaser. Phasers have a variety of settings, from a light stun up to a molecular disruption. On small targets, even the lightest phaser setting may have a disruptive effect. |
E3 |
 |
Phaser
24th Century
The hand-held phasers of the 24th century have a more streamlined look, detouring from the pistol-grip type sidearm. The type II phaser no longer carries a type I, but rather is a completely self-cantained unit. The type I phaser, while more powerful than its predecessors, is nonetheless smaller and more streamlined. The type III phaser, or phaser rifle, again increases the range, accuracy and power of the type II, but is not standard issue on away team missions. |

 |
Communicator
Mid-23rd Century
The communication devices of the 23rd century were carried by all crewmembers as standard issue on landing parties. Capable of long range, vocal two-way communications to others on a planet's surface, or to an orbiting vessel. With a simple flip-open activation, these communicators also provided a strong enough signal to aid in a positive transporter lock. |
E5 |
 |
Communicator
Late 23rd Century
By the late 23rd century, several communicator models were in common use. Some of these units were far smaller than the previously used flip-open type, but just as capable of long-range, two-way audio communication. The most distinctive among them was the wrist-worn communicator. Easy to use, and well concealed, wrist-worn communicators were among the smallest standard issue communicators of the time. |
E6 |
 |
Communicator
24th Century
In the 24th century, personal communicators have been highly refined, and integrated into the uniform insignia. This communicator has a dermal sensor built in for use by a specific individual. These devices also serve as identification locators, allowing ship's sensors to quickly and accurately determine a crewmember's location and provide lock-on coordinates for transportation. |
| E7 |
 |
Tricorder
Mid-23rd Century
Early tricorders used by the Federation were simple scanning, recording and playback-type devices, with limited computing capacity. Generally issued to landing parties far scanning terrain and detection of life signs, they could be adapted for other uses. Several specialized models existed, most notably the Medical Tricorder, used for diagnosis in the field, and the psychotricarder, which could analyze memories within a limited time span. |
E8 |
 |
Tricorder
Late 23rd Century
Similar to the earlier tricorders of the era, latter 23rd century models had increased ergonomics, as well as higher storage and sensing capabilities. The casing was smaller, making the unit more manageable on landing parties. These devices were carried by means of an over-the-shoulder strap, and could be configured to a wider range of scanning functions. |
E9 |
 |
Tricorder
24th Century
The latest Starfleet tricorder has more functionality than previous versions, in a smaller casing. This device is hand-held and carried by means of a hip worn holster, or as part of a medical or engineering field kit. The medical tricorder consists of a standard tricorder, with a medical sensing head attached. There is also a detachable sensor, which is used for focused scanning. |

 |
Starfleet Phaser
Energy-based weapons have distinctive signatures which may be detected by a standard tricorder scan. The disruption pattern on this card, as well as the resonant energy from the rapid nadion pulse, identity it as a mark left by a Starfleet phaser. |

 |
Romulan/Klingon Disruptor
This distinctive burn mark is the typical result of a discharged Romulan Disruptor. Scanning with a standard ticorder will reveal the resultant energy residue of antiprotons left by this weapon, similar to that of a Klingon Disruptor. |
